You can upload your own list of products into Contractor Accelerator using the Product Import Template. You can also export, edit and re-import OR simply use the bulk edit options within the system. This feature enables you to quickly add or update multiple products without entering them individually.
⚠️ Important: You must use our template exactly as provided for the import to work properly. Files that don’t match the format will not upload.

📥 Step 1: Download the Product Import Template
Blank Template:
To get started, click the “Download Import Template” button on the import screen. This will give you a CSV file that’s pre-formatted with all required columns. Click here to download the template.
- OR -
Update Existing Products:
Go to Company Profile > Click into Products > click the "Export" link at the top of the screen.
🧾 Step 2: Fill Out the Template
Open the file using Excel or another spreadsheet editor. Below is an explanation of each column in the order they appear:
Product ID Number
You can leave this blank when creating new products — the software will generate a unique ID for you.
If you are updating existing products, use the ID that is already assigned. If you are using an export from the system, the existing ID numbers will show in Column A.
Product Name
This is the name of the product (also known as a Line Item).
It can appear in the bid, job document, and is made available to select during bid creation.
If you are updating existing products and the product names remain exactly the same, they will be updated. If a product name is changed to something new, it will create a new product but will not delete the old one.
Description
A short explanation of the product that automatically pulls into the bid.
Cannot be edited during bid creation.
Only Primary users can update descriptions from the company profile settings.
Price
The default price for the product.
Can be adjusted per job during bid creation, unless locked down by permissions.
Start with Basic Pricing and jump into Component pricing with Materials and Additional Costs as a later phase. Here is a link to our Help Center Article about component pricing when you are ready.
Unit
The unit of measure (e.g., per square foot, each, per pound).
Helps define how the product is calculated or communicated on the bid.
Product Disclaimer
A note that appears on the Cost Page with a tiny superscript number next to the product.
The full disclaimer shows as a footnote below the product list on the Bid's Cost Page.
Commonly used to call out important conditions like:
“If pier depth exceeds 25 feet, additional fees may apply. Please refer to Terms & Conditions for more details.”
Product Category
This acts as a tag that determines where the product appears inside the software.
It tells the system which dropdown the product belongs to on your forms.
Products without a valid category will not be available for selection during bid creation.
Categories can be separated by a comma to assign multiple categories at once.
⬆️ Step 3: Upload the Completed File
Once your template is complete:
- Navigate to the Product Import screen
(Company Profile > Products > Import) - Drag and drop your spreadsheet file into the upload area, or click to browse for it.
- The system will display your data and allow you to confirm the mapping between your column headers and the fields in Contractor Accelerator.
- You’ll also see a sample set of your data, previewed in the correct columns for review.
- If any required fields are missing or invalid, the system will flag the issue and provide an error.
- Click directly into the row with the error to correct it inline before completing the import.
- Once all errors are resolved, click Next in the top-right corner to continue.
- The system will then process the file and create or update products as needed.
💡 Tip: If there are any formatting issues, the system will flag them. Make sure all required columns are filled out and that the structure matches the template exactly.
🔄 Updating Existing Products
If you need to make bulk updates:
- First, download your current product list from the system
- Products will be matched based on the Name column to update existing information
- Upload the updated version using the same import steps above
